Have you come to this page from my Instagram or LinkedIn? Have we connected through a mutual contact? Did my mom guilt you into subscribing?
Regardless of what you came for, hello thank you for being here and reading this post!
I am Ginny's emotional support human companion otherwise known as Kayla (I use any pronouns).
I am an antioppression vegan, an entrepreneur-ish, and a subject-matter-expert-in-progress. I have a Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition Policy and Programs with a focus in Innovation & Communication and a B.S. in Human Biology with a concentration in Human Health & Disease. I am a published Critical Food Studies researcher and a huge fucking nerd who will make anything about food and/or veganism.
These fancy titles basically mean I am super passionate about food, food systems, science communication, and I have 2 degrees worth of student debt (g-d bless America) that seriously hinder my goal of providing Ginny a home with a yard.
I love creating new projects for myself and am a bit all over the place (am i quirky & motivated or is it just my ADHD; a sure-to-be common theme in my content) but am working on writing more regularly by building up my own niche knowledge and my ability to communicate it to others. Your readership helps me practice this!Â
It's a bit selfish really, thanks for indulging me. I told my ex-therapist that I think I'll be more consistent and successful at writing/creating/producing regularly if I have people who have subscribed to my content and engage because they value my time, knowledge, and perspective. Plus, maybe this will ease my imposter syndrome since society at large has convinced me my habits are more valuable when they have the potential for monetization.
Okay, already starting to spiral beyond the confines of an introduction...
Getting back on track!Â
I'm sure this page will fluctuate as I learn, grow, and incorporate feedback, but I will do my absolute best to maintain my integrity and stay true to my ultimate life goal- to accumulate as much knowledge as I can about the things I'm interested in and bring as many people along on this learning quest as I can. That’s a fun way to say all I do a lot of hyperfixating and then info dump on whoever is around to read/hear/listen to it.
Ending on a few relevant fun facts:
i find capital letters pretentious even though they are a helpful part of written language. i generally defer to autocorrect, which is why there may be inconsistencies in my capitalization
i typically write in run-on sentences, include lots of (unnecessary) parentheticals, edit all of my work myself (sorry in advance and feel free to send me corrections), and I love an oxford comma
i have been vegan for 10 years + however long since this post has been updated
my veganism was, and still is, largely influenced and informed by being jewish and raised keeping kosher and observing other jewish customs
